Workshop : « Decolonizing the guitar »

24/11/2023 à 14h00 - 15h30

15€

Grab The Beat is happy to announce a new musical workshop !

In this session, Ray Aggs will read from their zine ‘DIY GUITAR FOR BEGINNERS’ and talk about the roots of the guitar from a black feminist perspective. They aim at demystifying the instrument by deconstructing the white male rock n roll cannon and exposing the whitewashing of punk, folk and rock history. We will talk traditional and experimental guitar techniques and learn a simple song together. No previous knowledge of the guitar is necessary – non musicians and beginners are all welcome!

Ray Eggs is a musician based in Glasgow and plays in the bands Trash Kit and Shopping.

INFOS :
– On reservation only : grabthebeatbxl@gmail.com
– Bring your guitar if you can !
– In English / reserved for FINTA people (Women, Intersex, Non-binary, Trans and Agender)

A co-production of Super Concert and Pullet Rocks.
